Southeastern Lawrence County in southeastern Ohio... North Central Cabell County in central West Virginia... * Until 345 AM EDT. * At 1143 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Ashland, Coal Grove, Chesapeake, Proctorville, Burlington, Athalia, Scottown and Green Bottom. This includes the following streams and drainages... Corbin Creek, Little Paddy Creek, Ohio River, Ice Creek, Big Spring Creek, Leatherwood Creek, Buffalo Creek, Paddy Creek, Twomile Creek, Big Branch Creek, Guyan Creek, Little Ice Creek, Michael Branch, Symmes Creek, Wolf Creek, Scarey Creek, Indian Guyan Creek, Little Indian Guyan Creek, Dog Fork, Bear Creek, Solida Creek, Perry Creek, Lick Creek, Shoal Creek, Ninemile Creek, Clyffeside Branch, Little Swan Creek, Fivemile Creek and Goose Run. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
