Special Weather Statement issued April 30 at 2:44PM EDT by NWS Binghamton NY At 244 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Hartwick, or 9 miles southwest of Cooperstown, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Middlefield, Hartwick, Cooperstown, Westville, Burlington, New Lisbon, Milford, Bowerstown, Elk Creek, and Schenevus. This includes the following highway exits... Interstate 88 near 18. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service office in Binghamton.
