Red Flag Warning issued May 7 at 3:29AM MDT until May 7 at 9:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM ...RED FLAG WARNING TODAY FROM 10 AM UNTIL 9 PM AREAWIDE BELOW SNOWPACK DUE TO STRONG WINDS, VERY LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH WEDNESDAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 8 PM ALONG AND EAST OF THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN BELOW SNOWPACK DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND VERY LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY... .A dangerous and critical fire weather pattern will unfold today as strong to severe winds, warmer temperatures, very low humidity and unstable conditions combine. All of northern and central New Mexico is expected to observe these critical conditions today, but the strongest winds will be focused over and near the Sangre de Cristo mountains. The lowest humidity will be found in central to eastern areas of the state where readings of less than 10 percent will persist for several hours. While critical conditions are forecast to improve this evening, breezy to windy conditions will redevelop on Wednesday, leading to another possible bout of fire weather in central to eastern areas New Mexico with a focus in Torrance, San Miguel and Guadalupe counties. * AREA AND TIMING...Northwest Plateau (Zone 101), West Central Mountains (Zone 105), Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106), West Central Basin and Range (Zone 109), North Central Mountains (Zone 120), and the Upper Rio Grande and Lower Chama River Valleys (Zone 121) from 10 AM until 9 PM Tuesday. * 20 FOOT WINDS...West 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Between 5 and 12 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the field of this Red Flag Warning.
