Special Weather Statement issued April 18 at 4:05AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY Winds will pick up out of the south to southwest by midday. This will result in even warmer temperatures with only a modest climb in dew points. The end result will be relative humidity flirting with 25 percent in many places while winds gust to near 30 mph. This combination will lead to erratic wildfire behavior into the first part of the evening.

The winds will be most notable on ridges and across open terrain. * HUMIDITY...Relative humidity will bottom out at 20 to 25 percent in most locations. * IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
